Nowadays, barely a case is filed that does not potentially involve the testimony of an expert witness: doctor, engineer, accountant, economist or attorney.  Under prevailing state and federal law, parties are required to retain experts who are both (1) qualified to render an opinion in the subject matter at issue and (2) able to render an opinion based upon reliable scientific standards or industry practices necessary to assist the trier of fact (court or jury) to determine a fact at issue.  In order to clarify the applicable law and practice in this area, Mr. Maderer will speak on the admissibility of expert testimony and challenging expert opinions and will entertain questions at the conclusion of his presentation.
