75 Years and Counting

Seventy-five years ago, the foundation of what we now proudly call Saiber LLC was laid at the 1180 Raymond Commerce Building in Newark, New Jersey. With a focus on federal tax, life insurance, estate planning, and related practices, Saiber quickly established itself as a trusted name in legal services. Over the decades, we’ve evolved and expanded strategically -- relocating to the Gateway Center in 1980, and to Florham Park in 2009. Along the way, we’ve extended our reach with offices in New York, Philadelphia, and Scranton.

Saiber's Historical Highlights

1950
On April 6th, Samuel J. Foosaner and Samuel S. Saiber established the Firm we know today as Saiber LLC under the name Foosaner & Saiber. Located at the 1180 Raymond Commerce Building in Newark, New Jersey, the Firm specialized in Federal Tax, Life Insurance, Estate, and related practices.
1955
Tax attorney Norman E. Schlesinger joined the Firm, bolstering its federal tax practice. The Firm is renamed to Foosaner, Saiber & Schlesinger.
1966
On May 26th, Samuel S. Saiber and Norman E. Schlesinger formed a new partnership under the name “Saiber and Schlesinger”
1969
David M. Satz, the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, joined the Firm, marking a pivotal moment in the Firm’s history. Under Satz’s leadership, the Firm entered a new era of growth and prosperity. The Firm changes its names to Saiber, Schlesinger and Satz.
1977
New Jersey federal prosecutor Bruce Goldstein joined the Firm. The Firm is renamed to Saiber Schlesinger Satz & Goldstein, LLC.
1978
The State of New Jersey legalizes gambling. Under the guidance of David M. Satz, Saiber launches its gaming law practice, becoming one of the first law firms to work with Atlantic City casinos.
1980
The Firm moved its headquarters from 11 Commerce Street to the Gateway Center in Newark.
1980
Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Special Prosecution Division, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, William F. Maderer joins the Firm.
1984
The Firm was retained by Six Flags Great adventure in the infamous Haunted Castle fire case.
1985
The Firm was retained by a Senior A&P Executive in connection with high-profile case concerning an alleged profit skimming scheme to defraud the A&P supermarket chain of millions of dollars in the recycling of waste corrugated cardboard from its grocery stores.
1990s
The Firm sees steady growth throughout the late 1980’s and 1990’s, tripling its size from 13 attorneys in 1986, to 34 attorneys in 1995.
1998
The Firm represents Sam Antar, Chief Financial Officer of the “Crazy Eddie” consumer electronics chain, in connection with an alleged fraud operation, consisting of cash skimming, falsification of inventory counts, and the inflation of sales figures of certain key stores.
2000
The Firm celebrates its 50-year anniversary with 45 attorneys.
2002
The Firm is retained by Princeton University to conduct a comprehensive internal investigation of repeated breaches of Yale University’s admissions database, by Princeton’s Admission Director, to check the status of numerous applicants. The incident drew national news coverage.
2005
The Firm elects William Maderer to become Managing Member.
2008
The Firm rebrands to Saiber LLC
2009
Saiber relocates its headquarters to Florham Park, New Jersey.
2010
Saiber represents Morristown Public Library in connection with a high-profile lawsuit stemming from a second major explosion nearby that impacted the library causing significant structural and cosmetic damage.
2013
Saiber is retained by Rutgers University to conduct a comprehensive investigation concerning the University’s football team’s defensive coordinator who was accused of bullying a minority athlete. The investigation drew widespread media attention.
2017
The landmark decision in Murphy v. National Collegiate Athletic Association, which found that states have the authority to regulate their own gambling industries, helps propel Saiber’s Gaming Law practice onto the national and international stage, as the Firm’s practice experience significant growth.
2022
Saiber expands its regional footprint as it opens its Scranton, PA office.
2023
The Firm elects Jennine DiSomma & Nino Coviello to be Co-Managing Members. DiSomma becomes the Firm’s first female Managing Partner.
2025
Saiber announces the move of its headquarters to 7 Girlada Farms in Madison, NJ.
2025
To celebrate its 75th anniversary, Saiber launched its 75 for 75 initiative—a program dedicated to completing 75 acts of kindness in 2025.
