Amy K. Smith concentrates her practice in labor and employment as well as complex commercial litigation. She represents her clients in both state and federal court and has appeared before administrative tribunals and in arbitration.
Amy defends and counsels employers and management in all aspects of employment law. She advises and represents her clients in connection with claims of hostile work environment, sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation, whistleblower claims, and wage and hour issues. She also conducts investigations into workplace issues, including workplace violence and harassment.
Amy also has over 10 years’ experience representing insurers in a broad range of complex disputes. She represents insurance companies in matters involving life and health, property and casualty, commercial general liability, and professional liability. Amy also has experience in long-tail environmental and asbestos claims and has represented clients in reinsurance coverage disputes.
In addition, Amy has experience representing clients in complex litigation and arbitration involving accounting issues, including allegations of accounting malpractice and claims regarding the valuation of shareholders’ interests in a close corporation.
Obtained a judgment in excess of $2.2 million for two shareholders of a close corporation who had exercised their rights to sell their shares of the corporation to the majority shareholder, which claimed that the value of our clients’ shares was zero.
