On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, Jake Halpern will participate in a panel discussion entitled “Federal Subpoena Practice: Strategy, Substance and Procedure” at the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey’s Virtual Brown Bag Luncheon. Jake will be joined by Moderator Marc D. Haefner of Walsh Pizzi O’Reilly Falanga LLP; the Hon. Tonianne J. Bongiovanni, U.S. Magistrate Judge, District of New Jersey; the Hon. Rukhsanah L. Singh, U.S. Magistrate Judge, District of New Jersey; and Surinder K. Aggarwal of Stone Conroy LLC.
The panel will discuss:
- How to prepare and serve subpoenas: procedure, jurisdiction and service issues
- How to respond to subpoenas: negotiating scope, timing, and privilege issues and other production considerations
- How to enforce and challenge subpoenas: procedures and bases for a motion to compel and motion to quash
- Other considerations and strategy issues with subpoena practice
This program has been by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 1.8 hours of total CLE credit. Of these, 0 qualify as hours of credit for ethics/professionalism, and 0 qualify as hours of credit toward certification in civil trial law, criminal trial law, workers compensation law and/or matrimonial law.
