Saiber's Arnie Calmann was recently honored by presentation of the Founders Award at the John C. Lifland American Inn of Court's 30th Anniversary Celebration, along with recipient the Hon. Lois H. Goodman, U.S.M.J. (Ret.). Arnie was recognized for playing a critical role in the creation and ongoing success of the Inn, and for his leadership role since its inception, which focuses on Intellectual Property and Federal Practice. Arnie served as a Co-Chair for four years and continues to be active through his role as a Master Counselor.
The mission of the John C. Lifland American Inn of Court is for federal judges and experienced attorneys to mentor young lawyers in advancing professionalism, civility and collegiality, and legal excellence in federal practice in the context of an intellectual property fact pattern. The continued support of a sizable number of District of New Jersey federal judges who regularly attend sessions is unique in the U.S. and is a critical reason for the Inn's three-decade success.
As part of this program, seasoned attorneys advise junior attorneys through a variety of professional development exercises. The Inn provides an incomparable experience for young attorneys to learn from federal judges and Bar members and present preliminary injunction arguments and trial closings/summations before federal judges in their robes in the Courthouse.
The Inn consists of four levels of members: Associates, Barristers, Masters and Master Judges. In contributing to the Inn, Arnie has worked closely with practicing attorneys of all levels and served as a mentor to numerous Co-Chairs of the Inn, as well as young attorneys who have become distinguished members of the Bar and succeeded in becoming judges.
