Anthony Del Guercio is Counsel in Saiber LLC’s Insurance and Reinsurance, Banking and Business Litigation practice groups.  Anthony has over twenty years of litigation experience and a unique multi-perspective, having held positions as a judicial clerk, outside counsel to financial institutions and loan servicers and both outside counsel to and in-house counsel with insurance/reinsurance companies throughout his career.

Anthony’s practice focuses on representing insurance and reinsurance companies in the full range of insurance and reinsurance coverage issues, arbitrations, nationwide litigation, risk management and other complex litigation matters.  His practice also focuses on representing clients in commercial/business litigation and financial institutions and loan servicers in contested foreclosure litigation in New York, as well as New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining Saiber, Anthony served as Vice President, Associate General Counsel at Everest Reinsurance Company. In that role, he was solely responsible for supporting and providing legal advice to all US reinsurance operations, including all reinsurance coverage issues, disputes and claims.  Anthony was also jointly responsible for supporting international operations and coverage issues, disputes and claims, working directly with outside counsel on insurance and reinsurance arbitrations and litigation, including unique and complex coverage issues involving Cannabis and claims involving COVID-19, wildfires, asbestos, environmental, property and casualty coverages, and reporting to senior management.  He also gained further valuable insight and experience on the responsibilities and expectations of in-house counsel at insurance and reinsurance companies in connection with arbitration, litigation, risk management and working together with outside counsel, and the expectations of senior management. In addition, Anthony advised claims and underwriting clients, developed corporate settlement and litigation/arbitration strategy and worked with outside counsel on various coverage matters, including products liability, asbestos, environmental and professional liability claims, litigation and insurer insolvency proceedings.  He also defended the Company’s IP worldwide and negotiated/drafted the Company’s software licensing agreements.

Before joining Everest Re, Anthony was a Partner at Parker Ibrahim & Berg, LLC (a/k/a “PIB Law”) where he first-chaired trials, briefed and argued motions and appeals, attended settlement conferences and negotiated property retention and non-retention resolutions for financial institutions and loan servicers in residential and commercial contested foreclosure litigation.  At PIB Law, Anthony was also a member of the four-attorney Operating Committee, which was responsible for firm governance, developing firm policy, litigation best practices and the overall operational management of the firm and its attorneys.  Anthony also co-managed the firm’s multi-state contested foreclosure litigation portfolio and personally appeared in and handled hundreds of contested foreclosure litigation matters.  Anthony also handled complex commercial lease disputes and advised bank and loan servicing clients on and handled matters related or collateral to the contested foreclosure litigation, including bank affidavit verification and QC practices, title insurance and lien priority issues, securitized loans, subordinate lienholder actions, borrower bankruptcies, direct actions by borrowers, homeowners’ insurance issues and foreclosure auctions.

Earlier, Anthony was an Associate at Saiber, where he focused his practice on reinsurance and insurance coverage analysis, disputes and defense, including long-tail claims and surety bond litigation.  Anthony also advised clients on securities transactions and law, handled securities arbitrations and complex commercial litigation.  At Saiber, Anthony gained extensive experience with reinsurance and securities arbitration hearings, state and federal court trials, appeals and all aspects of arbitration and commercial litigation.

After graduating Seton Hall University School of Law in the top ten percent of his class, he clerked for the Hon. Ann G. McCormick in the Superior Court of New Jersey, who was solely responsible for the entire asbestos and complex commercial litigation dockets in Middlesex County, New Jersey.  As a clerk, Anthony was involved in daily interactions with the Judge analyzing and resolving long-tail asbestos and complex commercial litigation.
