Monvan Hu concentrates his practice in employment law, higher education law, business litigation and intellectual property. He has represented private and public employers in a variety of employment related matters including Title VII claims, discrimination claims, and executive compensation disputes. He provides labor and employment counseling on a wide range of workplace issues, including the hiring and firing of employees, discrimination polices, internal investigations, and wage regulation compliance. Monvan has also defended public universities against several suits brought by students alleging a wide range of claims, including failure to accommodate, disability and race discrimination and due process violations.
Monvan additionally dedicates a portion of his practice to representing various types of businesses, such as commercial lenders and manufacturers, in a variety of contract disputes and asset recovery matters.
He has also represented and counseled clients on trademark, copyright, and patent issues, as well as on antitrust and trade regulation matters.
Monvan handles matters in New Jersey and New York state and federal courts.
Prior to entering private practice, Monvan was a Judicial Law Clerk for The Hon. Susan L. Reisner, P.J.A.D., in the Appellate Division, New Brunswick, NJ, and The Hon. Jamie D. Happas, P.J.Cv., in the Law Division, New Brunswick, NJ.
